Apple Music makes it easy to transfer music from Spotify on iPhone and Android

Apple Music, the streaming platform, has introduced a new feature that allows users to effortlessly transfer their music from Spotify or other streaming services. This tool arrives as a definitive solution to the common fear of losing playlists when switching platforms. Notably, it is not necessary to have iOS 26 to use it.
Boosting Apple Music's Appeal
With the implementation of this new feature, Apple Music aims to attract more users, especially those who have hesitated to migrate due to concerns about losing their song lists. Until now, transferring playlists to Apple Music required the use of third-party tools like SongShift. However, with the new option, the process is considerably simplified and is available on both iPhone and iPad as well as Android and Windows devices through a web browser.
How to Transfer Songs to Apple Music on iPhone and iPad
For iPhone and iPad users who have an active Apple Music subscription and are logged into the app, the transfer process is as follows:
- Open the Settings app and go to Apps > Music.
- Select the Transfer music from other services option.
- Choose the platform from which you wish to transfer your playlists.
- Log into the previous service.
- Select the playlists you want to transfer and tap Add to Library.
Once completed, Apple Music will search for matches to verify the availability of the songs in its catalog. Most of them should be available, and the playlists will be created in Apple Music. The duration of the process will vary depending on the number of selected songs and can take several minutes.
Transferring Music to Apple Music on Android
The procedures for Android are similar to those for their iOS and iPadOS counterparts. Users must ensure that the Apple Music app is installed and that they have an active subscription. The steps are:
- Open the Apple Music app on the device.
- Access your profile and select Settings.
- Tap on Transfer music from other services.
- Choose the source platform.
- Log into the previous platform.
- Select the playlists you wish to migrate and click Add to Library.
The migration process is identical to that of iPhone and iPad and may take several minutes, depending on the amount of music to be transferred.
Migrating Playlists to Apple Music via the Web
Users who prefer to use a computer, whether a Mac or otherwise, can also perform the migration through a browser. A similar process can be followed, provided they have an active Apple Music subscription. The steps are:
- Go to music.apple.com from your browser.
- Log in if you haven't already.
- Click on your profile picture and select Transfer Music.
- Choose the platform from which you wish to transfer your playlists.
- Log into the previous service.
- Select the playlists you want to transfer and press Add to Library.
Just like on mobile devices, this method can also take a few minutes, depending on the volume of music to be migrated. Once the transfer is complete, all the playlists and songs will be available on Apple Music.
Global Availability and Limitations
This new tool has been in testing for several months, but it is now fully operational worldwide. However, its use is restricted to just three countries: China, Myanmar, and Russia.
The new feature from Apple Music represents a significant step toward facilitating migration from other streaming platforms, eliminating the previous barrier of playlist loss and reinforcing its value proposition with features like lossless audio and competitive pricing.
This update promises to enhance the user experience, providing an accessible and efficient solution for those wishing to switch to Apple Music without losing their favorite music.
