What is a render time calculator?
A render time calculator lets you estimate how long your animation will take to complete before launching the render. It multiplies the time per frame by the total frames and divides by your hardware factor and parallel render batch, giving you a realistic estimate of hours, days and production costs.
How to use this tool
- Enter the total number of frames in your animation.
- Add the average time a reference frame takes to render.
- Select the hardware factor according to your machine (CPU, GPU or render farm).
- If you render several frames in parallel, set the batch size.
- The result updates instantly: total time, hours, days, frames per hour and estimated cost.
Typical use cases
- Plan 3D animation deliveries with realistic deadlines.
- Compare performance between your CPU and a GPU before buying.
- Calculate the cost of a render farm before renting it.
Frequently asked questions
Which hardware factor should I use?
If your reference machine renders on CPU use 0.7x, a modern GPU 1.5x–2x and a render farm 4x or more. Start at 1x and adjust based on your real measurements.
Does the result include setup time?
No: the estimate covers only frame rendering. Add simulation, compositing and export time separately.
