What is an image palette extractor?

An image palette extractor analyzes the pixels of a photo, frame or concept art and groups the dominant colors using K-means clustering. The result is a HEX color palette ready for mood boards, lighting, materials and branding.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload an image by dragging it onto the dashed area or clicking to select it.
  2. Adjust the number of colors you want to extract (from 3 to 12).
  3. Choose the analysis quality: fast, balanced or high precision.
  4. Press "Extract colors" and wait a few seconds.
  5. Click any color to copy it, export CSS or download the palette as an image.

Typical use cases

  • Create color scripts and mood boards from cinematic references.
  • Define consistent material schemes from a reference frame.
  • Extract the chromatic identity of a brand or photograph for web design.

Frequently asked questions

Is the image uploaded to any server?

No: all analysis happens locally in your browser using canvas. Your images never leave your device.

Which analysis quality should I choose?

Balanced quality works well in most cases. Use high precision for small images or subtle gradients, and fast for quick tests with large images.
