Blackmagic Design has announced the release of DaVinci Resolve 20.1.1, an update that, although minor compared to its predecessor, focuses on addressing existing issues and optimizing the performance and stability of the video editing platform. This version is considered a maintenance update, designed to enhance the daily user experience rather than introducing new tools.
Key Improvements in DaVinci Resolve 20.1.1
Among the new features of this version are several improvements that promise to make the editing work more efficient:
- Faster loading times for cloud projects.
- Attribute dialog that remembers user selections.
- Improvement in retiming manipulation and motion persistence when copying attributes.
- Solutions for PSD file imports in Fusion.
- Fixes for Magic Mask tracking issues in Fusion.
- Corrections in lens space transformations in Fusion compositions.
- Media Out in Color and Mix mode now correctly reflects Magic Mask results.
- Crashes caused by Depth Map on Intel Macs, as well as issues with MTS clips and some MKV files, have been resolved.
- Improvement in Dolby Vision metadata formatting.
- Restoration of dual screen layouts when switching pages.
- Clearer layout of bitrate and quality settings for Windows codecs.
- General improvements in performance and stability.
This update includes a series of fixes that address common issues that can slow down the editing process. For example, cloud projects with stacked timelines now open faster, and the attribute dialog retains the selected options instead of resetting them. In Fusion, PSD files now load correctly, while the Magic Mask feature behaves more predictably when switching modes.
In the color grading area, Magic Mask results are now reflected in Media Out, and Dolby Vision metadata is formatted correctly. Numerous scenarios that caused unexpected crashes have also been fixed, including issues with Depth Map on Intel Macs, some MTS clips, and certain types of MKV files. For Windows users, the codec layout is now clearer, and dual screen setups should function smoothly when switching between different pages.
Backtrack: DaVinci Resolve 20.1
The previous release, DaVinci Resolve 20.1, launched earlier this month, offered a more extensive set of new features, including:
- Improved handling of keyframes and custom guides on the editing page.
- Introduction of Magic Mask v2 and the new Immersive Patcher in Fusion.
- Support for ACES 2.0 and improvements to safe area tools in the Color section.
- New effects in Resolve such as ColorTone Diffuser and Split Tone.
- Support for Apple Spatial Audio and 32-bit recording in Fairlight.
While version 20.1 brought innovative tools for users, version 20.1.1 ensures that these tools operate more smoothly and with fewer interruptions during daily work.
System Requirements for DaVinci Resolve 20.1.1
For optimal performance, the system requirements are as follows:
- macOS: Sonoma or later, with Apple Silicon required.
- Windows: Windows 10 or newer, with a minimum of 16 GB of RAM (32 GB for Fusion).
- Windows for ARM: Windows 11 with the Snapdragon X Elite series.
- Linux: Rocky Linux 8.6, with 32 GB of RAM.
All systems require GPUs that support OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 12.8, along with the latest drivers from AMD or NVIDIA.
Download and Availability
DaVinci Resolve 20.1.1 is now available as a free download from Blackmagic Design's support page. Both the free version and the Studio version use the same processing; however, the Studio version offers additional features such as support for multiple GPUs, advanced noise reduction, and immersive audio tools.
The arrival of version 20.1.1 marks an important step in refining the editing experience in DaVinci Resolve.
